A Cappella Listening Activity: 12/19 & 12/20

3rd, 4th & 5th Grade Students will get the opportunity to watch two performances (see below) of Christmas songs by well-known a cappella groups. We will define "A Cappella" and "Arrangement" and we will discuss how these are used to create these songs in the examples given.

Murphy P.R.I.D.E.! GJAL 5th Grade Students Featured in the Illinois ElksAssociation Mid-Winter Newsletter

On November 8th twenty 5th grade students performed for the Murphysboro Elks Lodge 572 as part of their annual Veteran's Day Ceremony Community Celebration. These students represented our school well, and they are featured on page 9 of the Illinois Elks Association mid-winter 2013 newsletter. Outstanding job representing our school and saluting our veterans, 5th grade students!

Wednesday, December 11-Mrs. Hanson is out of the room

On Wednesday, December 11 Mrs. Hanson is staying home sick.

Grades 3-5 students will be watching the DVD of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra performance of "The Ghosts of Christmas Eve."

Grades K-2 students will be watching the Mickey Mouse Christmas Carol Sing-a-Long.

K-2 Holiday Concert (new date)

It looks like the GJAL Holiday Concert will be on Thursday, December 12th at 6:30 pm, one week later than originally planned. Doors will open at 6:00. We look forward to seeing you all there!
